Objets d'art
Small works of art, made to be lived with.
kataoka's objets d'art extend its world beyond jewelry into silverwork, lacquerware, incense, and fragrance. Here, a silver paperweight takes the form of a ballerina. An incense holder rises like a hand from its base. A candle by Blaise Mautin captures the scent of a single day in Ainokura, Toyama. A jewelry box by Taiichi Kirimoto is finished in urushi lacquer in Wajima, where the craft has been carried across generations. Southern Breeze incense is blended by Shoyeido, a house founded in Kyoto circa 1700.
Made with artisans and houses in Japan and France, these works bring kataoka's attention to material, atmosphere, and form into the spaces one lives with every day.
