Yoshinobu Kataoka has spent more than thirty years in the same pursuit: learning what gold will and will not do, what a stone reveals when the light shifts, what a hand-formed surface holds that a cast one cannot. He founded kataoka in 2011 not to build a jewelry company, but to create a place where that kind of attention could be sustained.
There are two houses. One in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo, where the atelier and the flagship occupy the same neighborhood. One in Tribeca, New York, opened in 2018, where the work is introduced to a different city without being translated for it.
The people who find us as clients are rarely just looking for jewelry. They are looking for something made with integrity, by someone whose name and hands are behind it. The people who work alongside us share something of the same instinct. They are not drawn to luxury as an aesthetic category. They are drawn to the quality of attention that genuine craft demands, and to the particular kind of relationship that grows when a client trusts you with something lasting.
If this is familiar to you, we would like to hear from you.
