Every kataoka piece is made from metals blended in-house at our Tokyo atelier. We source recycled gold refined to 99.9% purity from Japan's semiconductor industry, then alloy it into three proprietary 18k gold colors: rose gold, beige gold, and grey gold. Our platinum is blended to 900 parts per thousand.

Rose gold has a soft, warm tone. Beige gold sits between traditional yellow and rose, with a subtle honeyed warmth that pairs naturally with colored gemstones. Grey gold, available exclusively as matching wedding bands, has a cooler, muted finish that complements any engagement ring it sits beside. Each color is the result of a specific alloy formula developed in close collaboration between Yoshinobu Kataoka and our foundry.

All kataoka metals are nickel-free and hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin. For guidance on maintaining your metals, see our jewelry care guide. To see these metals in person, visit our houses of artistry in Tokyo or New York. Colors may appear differently depending on screen calibration and display settings.
