The God Beyond the Intercom

I went to the local shrine to draw a fortune slip,
only to realize I had no hundred-yen coin.
With little choice, I pressed the intercom at the shrine office.

A voice replied, detached yet embracing:
“That can wait until your next visit.”

It struck me then that the deities of the Kojiki,
Japan’s ancient chronicles, were just like this;
uncontrived, carefree, and deeply in tune with reality.

And somehow, it all fell into place.

A World Not Made by Hands

Traces of Time, Held in Place

The kataoka Tokyo Flagship Store stands in a former factory, built in 1932. For nearly a century, this building has quietly witnessed the passing of time.

Its walls have held many lives, many stories, most of them now fading. My desire is to honor what remains. To preserve, even in a small way, the presence this place has carried through the years.
